![]() Access Control and Time and Attendance Control Hedsam is a Finnish system developed and manufactured by Oy Hedpro Ab, combining Hedpro's experience of many years and state of the art technology. The Hedsam system consists of computerized central equipment and field equipment. The central unit is a Pentium-level computer with Windows as the operating system. The system can be a one computer system or a server solution with several computers. The software package can be tailored from several alternatives according to the customer's requirements. The software modules include e.g. access control, time and attendance control, remote service, remote data collecting, group- and secondary controls, canteen transactions, manual info, info for digital PBX, door monitoring graphics etc. The software comprises versatile reporting facilities with various search criterion, e.g. according to time, person, department, group etc. Reports outputs can be on screen or printed. The access control facilitates the creation of several access levels, time controlled functions, group switch on/off, information transfer etc. The time and attendance control allows the processing of fixed and flexible working hours, two and three work shifts and various additional and overtime alternatives. The access control makes it possible to carry out e.g. switching on/off intruder alarm zones, to control air conditioning, lighting etc. The field equipment comprises the electronics units, access control cardreaders, time and attendance terminals, canteen terminals, recognition means, power supplies etc. The field devices of the HedSam system are intelligent, independent and they can also operate when the connection to the central equipment is interrupted or the central unit is inoperative for some reason. All required information is updated automatically in the field equipment (electronics boards), thus ensuring that the necessary information, such as access rights, is available at every door. The readers and terminals can be equipped with either magnetic stripe readers or proximity readers. Magnetic stripe cardreaders operate alike e.g. bank card readers, i.e. the card is pushed through a slot in the reader. With a proximity reader this is not necessary. It is sufficient if the recognition device, which can be a card or a key , is held in front of the reader (depending on reader type) at a distance of 6 - 50 cm from the reader. If desired, the cards can be provided with a company logo, cardholder photo etc. In terminals, such as time and attendance terminals, after presenting the ID means, it is possible to enter various codes, such as IN, OUT, BUSINESS, LUNCH, BUSINESS TRIP etc as well. The Hedsam system is not tied to the branch of the owner; the program is designed to meet the different needs of companies from small ones to enterprises with thousands of employees. |
